Black Forest is an adventurous family humour movie with element of suspense. The central character Luke is played by Manoj K Jayan and his heroine is Meera Nandhan. Other artist are Kalabhavan Shajon, Akash, Parvathy, Chethan, Ashokan, Dinesh, Jinu Joseph, Biju, Krishna Prasad, Priyadarshan, Ashwathy Nair, Vishnu and Suneeth.
The main portion of the film was shot at Satram near Sabarimala, Ramakalmedu, Kuttikanam, Peermedu and Paruthumpara in Idukki district of Kerala, India. The beautiful locations were captured by well known cameraman Suresh Rajan from Bombay. Apart from lead characters an interesting casting line up is the another feature of the film is by Kalabhavan Shajon, Ashokan, Dineshan, Sidharth, Jinu Joseph, Krishna Prasad, Anjana, Master Priyadarshan, Aswathy Nair. Main child artists are Master Chethan, Master Akash & Ms.Parvathi.
The outline of the story is that Mittu and Mili are planning to have their vacation but they didn’t get any ideal place for that. At that time their family friend Fr. Augustine uncle told them an idea to visit their uncle Luke who stays in forest, whom they haven’t not seen before. Finally Mittu and Mili plan to stay there in the forest with Luke uncle. On the way to forest they have to face many adventurous problems.
The tribal people used to call Luke as Vattan Luke (Hysteric). In this film Luke lives in a beautiful bungalow which is situated in the forest. This bungalow was given by Europeans to Luke’s ancestors. For last long years he is living alone in this bungalow. So he doesn’t have any contact with human beings and his friends are animal. Luke preferred forest animals as his pets. He used to call them with Brazilian Football players name like Rivaldo, Carlos, Ronaldo. Elephants used to drink water daily from Luke’s tank which was placed in the side of his bungalows courtyard. Rodeenjo-Tiger and Kaphu-snake used to sleep in Luke's house. If any tribal people enters his compound he will take gun against them, not to any animals. The real adventure comes there when Mittu and Mili come there and tries to change the character of Luke. Akash plays the role of Mittu and Parvathy plays the role of Mili.
In this film Manoj K Jayan plays a beautiful positive role by appearing with head band and pony tail. When Mili and Mittu arrives in the forest they saw a tribal boy, Panchan. Here onwards they became close friends then the Adventure begins..............
Overall the story of the film is based on tribal boy Panchan. The birth of Panchan was very peculiar and mysterious. He sees his father only at the age of 10. He gained lot of knowledge through his father and his father used to narrate lot of stories related to mythology which are the beliefs of tribals. The most inspired story, Panchan heard was the story of the Jungle king narrated by his father. The story says about the adventures made by Jungle prince in search of his father, later who became a stone statue. And the result of the adventurous journey is that the prince could not find his father. The same situation also happens to Panchan. He also loses his father. Then they heard this Mili and Mittu tryies to help Panchan, which is the second half of the film. In this movie Kalabhavan Shajon plays the humour role of Watcher Sivan, who used to chit chat with tribal ladies of forest and later introduces them to these children. Sivan tries to use this children by giving his love letters through them. But, this bright children uses Sivan to know the secret path of forest which they could explore. Through the travel in the forest the children learn how important the nature is and why it should be preserved. At the same time the film gives more importance to entertainment and fun. This is the first time, a shooting is done in the most dangerous locations Satram, Vallakadavu, inner forest of Gavi, Ramakkalmedu, and Chinnaramakkalmedu.
The major highlight regarding the location is the film crew walked with all the equipments on top of a big rock which is 3320 feet above sea level and took more than one hour by walking to reach the location. The beautiful visualization was done by well known cameraman Suresh Rajan mainly with Jimmy Jib & crane. Mr. Suresh Rajan from Mumbai started his Malayalam debute with the well known movie Kerala Cafe-Bridge. The music is composed by Mohan Sithara and the lyrics by Sree Prasad and Egandiyur. The co-direstors of the film are Sudip Joshi & Geethika Sudip. Manoj Kumar is the creative director of this film and the screen play is by Jogee. The Art director is Mr.Sunil. Another major role is played by master Chethan as Panchan. The story unfolds through various fun and humorous situations too. An unexpected turn of events in the forest make adventures and mystery in the story.
